Ukrainians In Land Rovers Conquer The Northernmost Point Of Europe
2008-01-28The press conference was attended by the General Director of the Winner group in Ukraine Mr. Bohdan Kulchyckyj, the Land Rover brand director in Ukraine Mr. Roman Skilskiy and the members of the expedition.
Members of the expedition covered over 7000 km in less than two weeks and ran through 5 countries.
Ten courageous and tough travelers, who had overcome hundreds of kilometers on and off the road, took part in the adventure. Among them were leading Ukrainian journalists, employees of Winner and the tech support provided by the Autolife company. The team travelled in three Land Rover cars: Defender 110, Freelander 2 and Range Rover Supercharged. The trip was aimed to confirm the worldwide reputation and prestige of English Land Rover aristocrats as reliable and uncompromising off-road vehicles.
However, there were other reasons to arrange such a test drive of the British off-road cars. The first reason was the 15th anniversary of Winner, the official importer of Land Rover cars in Ukraine.
And the second one was the celebration in 2008 of the 60th anniversary of the Land Rover company. Therefore, Nordcapp-2008 was the first and rather significant contribution of the Ukrainian representation in the festivities around the world.
On the way to their destination, participants of Nordcapp 2008 crossed Finland from North to South, and visited Land Rover Experience, the off-road training centre in Hammeenlinna, Finland, and the Santa Claus’s residence in the town of Rovaniemi.
