2008-02-27

This car does not only mark the next development stage of the well-known Ford Mondeo, but embodies all the cutting-edge technologies and the new ‘kinetic design’ form language.

The new Ford Mondeo had made a splash long before the official launch. It was first seen in the Casino Royal movie and immediately got a title of the James Bond car. Then the world witnessed the official debut of Ford Mondeo which was at the spotlight at the Geneva Motor Show. And then the famous ‘Desire’ commercial appeared, with people leaving their cars once they had seen the new Ford Mondeo.
So, there is absolutely no doubt that the award has found its appropriate owner. ‘Car of the Year 2008’ is the only and unique event of such level in Ukraine. It has achieved this status due to the voting scheme which uses the opinion of readers (weight 50%), experts (weight 25%) and car journalists (weight 25%). During the event, the Directorate received more than 9 thousand letters from readers with filled questionnaires.

The expert jury of the national event ‘Car of the Year 2008’ consisted of 34 market experts. The journalist group was comprised of 19 members of the Club of Car Journalists of Ukraine. They were the most experienced and respected journalists that write and make video reports about the automotive market. The accuracy of counting was guaranteed by the Supervisory Board which included all the members of the expert jury.
Such a comprehensive, well-balanced and professional approach to choosing the “Car of the Year 2008’ is the best evidence that the Ford Mondeo is the real leader and the favorite of many readers and participants of the Ukrainian automotive business.
